Groups in the church
People are not just logical entities; they have all sorts of legitimate and God-given needs. Needs for friendship and activity, support and encouragement. Over the years we have set-up a number of groups to meet those needs for different sections of the church.
This page is a summary of all the groups. Each group [where appropriate] has its own page, with time-tables, photos etc.
Home groups
In some ways these are the heart of the church. People met regularly together to read the bible, discuss its implications in their lives, sharing life - to know and be known, praying together.
We encourage everyone to join a home group - they do keep you on your toes!
Shekinah playgroup
Shekinah is a wonderful playgroup that meets mornings [not wednesday] from 9.30am-12noon, and on thursday afternoon, 1pm-3.30pm
Youth groups [Blaze & Laser]
There are groups for children and teenagers of all ages in the church and the community.
Blaze, Laser & Vizion groups meet two fridays per month [typically]. Sometimes, they will meet on the same night - though not at the same time!
Here are a few of the more or less normal teenagers & children from Laser & Zone.
County wide, we have strong links with N:Vision, a group who put on christian events for youth in Sussex
Blaze [4-11's]
Meet from 5.45pm to 7.00pm [doors open 5.30pm]. The program consists of games, crafts, bible teaching, music and club nights, which is free time where children can play games, eat tuck, and hang out with their friends.
Laser [11-16's]
Meet from 7.45pm to 9.30pm. We see LASER being for young people who wish to meet together in a group which will seek to find out more about the Christian faith. We will endeavour to present the basics of Christian faith and provide a healthy social atmosphere for young people to develop in.
Vizion [16+s]
Meet from 8:30 till 10pm. Vizion is for older teenagers/younger twenties.
Community Groups
These are regular activities that we do in/with the community:
Gardening
Monthly group meets in the late spring/summer/early autumn to clean up gardens for people who cannot keep their own
Market Stall
Regular stall in the Wednesday market in the Shoreham community center: talk, Fair Trade items and christian literature.
Walking
Do you enjoy walking in the countryside round Shoreham-by-Sea? If so, we are starting a walking group, to explore the district. Feel free to join us.
Other Groups
We have a number of other groups in the church, some for friendship & some for 'discipleship' - growing as christians, some for particular tasks in the church.
Daughter's Inc
is women’s group for women of God of all ages. set up to discover women’s ministry and role in the church.
Men Only!
is a men’s fellowship group founded to increase fellowship and build relationships with the men of the church.
Puppet ministry
Puppets explain the bible? Sounds like some gimmick - actually we have found that puppets have great ability to engage both young and old, and to get points across...
Worship team
the musicians & singers [a strange bunch full of wild eyed enthusiasts, prone to making lots of noise...]
