Market Stall

page sub sections: FairTrade

We have a stall in the wednesday market, in the Shoreham community center, in Pond Road. The stall is always right inside the main doors; it dispenses christian literature, FairTrade items and lots of talk and laughter.

We are always ready to stop and chat - there is no need to buy anything - though, of course, we won't object if you do.

FairTrade. We are commited to providing fairly traded goods. We always have teas, coffee and biscuits. The ginger biscuits are outstanding - strong men have almost fainted with pleasure after eating one!

Organisers: Enid Pocock, Eve De Silva

When: wednesday morning, each week

Times: 9.00am-12.30pm[ish]

What is Fair Trade?

In Brief: Producers registered with FairTrade Labelling Organisation, receive a minimum price that covers the cost of production and an extra premium that is invested in the local community.

This means that they are not being ground into the dust by greedy multinationals, but can start to build up their villages. It does mean that the price to you and me is a bit higher, but the result is that the small farmers can have a real living.
